High school scene of fatal work accident

For many Minnesota construction workers and their families, the fear of being involved in a fall from scaffolding or other high places while on the job is a daily reality. Even with strict safety protocols and laws in place, these accidents still seem to happen more frequently than one would wish.

Other serious injuries and even deaths on construction job sites result from situations in which workers are crushed by objects. People can become trapped in between equipment or in trenches that collapse. Many factors can contribute to why any of these scenarios happen but one thing remains constant—victims and family members are the ones left to suffer the often tragic and long-lasting consequences.

Heavy trucks or other rigs like backhoes and cranes are also common sites on construction sites. These pieces of equipment may be involved in accidents. Such was the case in one incident that occurred in early December. Crews were working on the campus of a Minnesota high school when a dump truck backed over another worker. Both of the men were employees of the company that owned the dump truck. That company is Joe’s Excavating. The worker who was run over was taken by air to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, efforts to save his life failed and he died later that same day. An investigation into the incident has been launched by the Morrison County Sheriff’s Department. At this point, it is unknown whether any safety violations occurred.

Accidents like these that claim the lives of innocent people can happen in the blink of an eye. Injured workers or their family members may be able to get help from talking with an attorney after such a tragedy.
