Worker dies during shift change accident

On Behalf of | Apr 14, 2016 | Workplace Accidents |

Jobsite accidents can happen in any industry at any time but Minnesota employees in some industries may face a higher risk of these accidents than others. Workers in the construction, industry and transportation fields are among those who routinely experience more dangerous working conditions than do office workers, for example. The heavy machinery, high platforms and even vehicles that move at high rates of speed can all open up opportunities for accidents that can cause serious injury or even death to employees.

A man in St. Paul who was employed by the Canadian Pacific Railway lost his life while on the job died due to an accident at a rail yard. Reports do not provide a lot of details yet but it is known that the accident occurred in the middle of the night. One work crew was ending a shift and another work crew was preparing to begin a shift when an incident occurred.

After the incident, one man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. The rail yard is on Childs Road in St. Paul. No details were given about how many employees were at the site at the time of the fatal accident. Counseling is being made available to other workers to help them deal with the accident and the death of their colleague.

People who work in dangerous fields still deserve to know that their employers value their safety and that their lives will be protected. Family members of people who die in on-the-job accidents may wish to talk with an attorney to learn about their options for compensation.
