Your right to a safe working environment

On Behalf of | May 15, 2020 | Workplace Safety |

All workers in the United States have rights when it comes to job safety. Your employer has the legal obligation to provide you with a work environment that is reasonably safe. You also have the right to raise concerns about safety without fear of retaliation.

If you are concerned about safety in your workplace or you have been recently injured at work, it is important that you fully understand your rights. By making yourself aware of these, you will be able to take the appropriate legal action when necessary.

Your rights to safety in the workplace

In the workplace, you have the right to be trained in a language that you understand. You must also have the appropriate safety gear for the given situation. If you are working in a place where there is a risk of falling from a height, you should be equipped with a harness and lifeline. You should also have the appropriate equipment to protect you from toxic chemicals.

What you can do if you’re injured

If you do get injured in your workplace, you have the right to claim workers’ compensation in the majority of situations. This will cover all the medical bills relating to your injury and you’ll also gain back a portion of lost wages. To successfully access the workers’ compensation to which you’re entitled, you should report your injury to your employer as soon as you can and fill out the forms that they give you.

If you have recently been injured at work, you should make sure that you take the appropriate action to receive the compensation that you deserve.
