Most people in Minnesota understand and acknowledge that certain jobs or lines of work may be more dangerous than others. People who work on construction job sites, in the oil and gas industry, in mines and more all face serious risks every day they go to work. Other types of job may not pose quite the same level of risk but that certainly does not mean accidents cannot and do not happen.
When any type of machinery is needed to complete a job task, an injury may happen. A forklift is one type of machine that may be associated with a workplace accident. In Burnsville, a suburb south of Minneapolis it was an accident involving a forklift that claimed the life of a worker recently. The man was employed at a home improvement store and was working in the yard section of the store at the time of the accident.
Few details have been released but the man is said to have been operating a forklift that turned over. He experienced severe injuries to his chest and was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center. It was there that he died. It is not know if anyone else was injured or otherwise involved in the incident. Investigations have been launched by the police, the medical examiner’s office and by the Occupational Safety Health Administration.
Minnesota residents who lose their loved ones in senseless workplace accidents might want to talk with a lawyer to learn about the types of compensation that may be available to them.
